Good afternoon folks! Here is some helpful and beneficial information that was sent to me and I’d thought I’d share it with you. Enjoy.
The Power of a Dua (Prayer)
Du’a (دُعَاء) is a supplication in Islam, an Arabic term which means to ‘call out’ or to ‘summon’. Muslims use this term and call out to God, and Muslims regard this as one of the second greatest acts of worship in Islam. The Islamic prophet Muhammad is reported to have said “Dua is the very essence of worship.” One of Allah’s commands expressed to Muslims through the Qur’an is for them to call out to it:
Allah says in Quran:
(And when My servants ask you concerning Me, I am indeed close (to
them): I respond to the dua (prayer) of every suppliant when they call on
Me – Quran 2:186)
Call Me, I will answer you. Those who are too proud to worship Me will enter Hell(40:60).
Call your Lord humbly and secretly, He loves not the transgressors(7:55).
And call on Him, fearing and hoping, surely the mercy of Allah is near to those who do good(7:56)
The human being needs to ask for and receive the favors of the Almighty. He is in constant need for what only Allah can give Him. To help him achieve his dreams, to give him success and happiness in this world and the Hereafter, he needs the favors of Allah.Allah loves the believers who ask from Him, and supplicate constantly.Dua is a great tool given to believers by Allah. Using dua they can achieve great things and overcome many problems. One who has been given the power of Dua can never lose hope, as in his hands lies a great weapon. It is man’s own loss if he does not make use of the tremendous potential of Dua. Dua is the most potent weapon of a believer. The dua can change ourlife, our outlook, and our fate.
e.g Here We are sharing the Dua of Zakaria (Alae Salam) for child ( A very helpful Dua for infertile couples)
The du’a of Zakariyya (Zakariah), ‘alayhis-salaam, which he made in his old age while his wife was barren but Allah(God) answered his call and gave him Yahyah (John), ‘alayhis-salaam.
The Noble Qur’an Al-‘Imran 3:38
“Rabbi hab li min ladunka dhurriyyatan tayyibatan innaka samee’ al-du’aa’ ”
…”O my Lord! Grant me from You, a good offspring. You are indeed the All-Hearer of invocation.”
Zakariya (peace be upon him) was a prophet of a high rank. His office was in the Temple, and his relatives were his colleagues. But he found in them no true spirit of the service of Allah and man. He was filled with anxiety as to who would uphold the godly ideas he had in minds, which were strange to his worldly colleagues.
Allah also says mention his prayer in another place in Quran:
And (remember) Zakariya (Zachariah), when he cried to his Lord: “O My Lord! Leave me not single (childless), though You are the Best of the inheritors.”
So We answered his call, and We bestowed upon him Yahya-peae be upon him (John), and cured his wife (to bear a child) for him. Surely, they (prophets) used to hasten on to do good deeds, and they used to call on Us with hope and fear, and used to humble themselves before Us.
( Quran-Chapter 21-verse89-90)
The Mercy of Allah to Zakriya was shown in many ways: (1) in the acceptance of his prayer; (2) in bestowing a son like Yahya; and (3) in the love between father and son, in addition to the work which Yahya did as Allah’s Messenger for the world.
Yahya (John) did not live long. He was imprisoned by Herod, the tetrarch (provincial ruler under the Roman Empire), whom he had reproved for his sins, and eventually beheaded at the instigation of the woman with whom Herod was infatuated. But even in his young life, he was granted
(1) wisdom by Allah, for he boldly denounced sin;
(2) gentle pity and love for all Allah’s creatures, for he moved among the humble and lowly, and despised “soft raiment”; and
(3) purity of life, for he renounced the world and lived in the wilderness. All his work he did in his youth.
These things showed themselves in his conduct, for he was devout, showing love to Allah and to Allah’s creatures, and more particularly to his parents (for we are considering that aspect of his life): this was also shown by the fact that he never used violence, from an attitude of arrogance, nor entertained a spirit of rebellion against divine Law.

“Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all.”
[Muslim, Ahmad, Aboo Daawood, an-Nasaa’ee, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah]
